    Departmental Days

March 27-30, in conjunction with our Tiger Days programs for juniors, families will have the option to “add on” to their general visit.  To allow prospective students and families to take a deeper dive into select academic departments, the options for this pilot year include:

    Wednesday, March 27, Music
    3:30 pm
Wittenberg's music program prepares students for careers in music education, performance, church music, composition, arts administration and other fields. Enjoy a student recital with select students across all genres of music and then have the opportunity to meet with faculty and ensemble directors for a Q/A session about the department. Students will also have the chance to continue their visit and stay to observe ensemble rehearsals. This is a great session for students who wish to major, minor or continue participation in music at Wittenberg.

Thursday, March 28, Student Engagement in Political Science and Law
    12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Talk with faculty and current students about engaged learning opportunities through Wittenberg’s Washington, D.C. internship program and various study-abroad experiences, including the Poland Travel Abroad Seminar. Families will also have the opportunity to gain more insight into specific areas such as International Relations, Women’s Studies and Human Rights, and how Wittenberg students engage with the City of Springfield.

Friday, March 29, COMPASS and The Exploratory Student
    12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
COMPASS is Wittenberg’s first-stop connection and resource center built around individualizing a student’s experience. This visit will focus on the exploratory student who wants to learn more about what resources Wittenberg can offer and how the liberal arts fits perfectly into an undecided student’s world, as well as the basics of “How To” college.

    Friday, March 29, Marine Science
    12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Explore the world of marine science in Wittenberg’s unique program. Students (and families) will have the opportunity to complete a college lab experiment, study in our state-of-the-art facilities, and talk with marine science professors and students about their experiences, including our partnership with Duke University’s Marine Lab and our Bahamas research trip, along with checking out the cool marine creatures we have in our tanks.

Saturday, March 30, Service: Lesotho Nutrition Initiative Pack
    12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Led by Scott Rosenberg, professor of history, chair of Wittenberg’s Peace Corps Prep Program and Honorary Consul to the Kingdom of Lesotho (South Africa), the Lesotho Nutrition Initiative (LNI) provides 350,000 meals a year to 1,500 children in Lesotho suffering from severe malnutrition and stunting. Join him and student participants for an afternoon of outreach and learn about the many life-changing opportunities available through our Community Service Office and our Community Service Student Scholarship program. Families also have the opportunity to participate in this year’s 24-hour LNI packing event – stay as long as you’d like!
